Real Stella York bride Cait married her husband Kyle in an intimate outdoor wedding alongside their dog Sophie. Serving on the front lines of the pandemic as an ICU nurse, Cait’s original wedding plans had to be reimagined but she was still able to walk down the aisle in her stunningly sleek Stella York wedding gown, Style 6648. Read along to hear how their friends and family came together to create the perfect celebration.

We love your proposal story! Tell us about how the surprise took a turn…
I thought Kyle was going to propose when we set up a fall photo session but the event came and no proposal. Kyle then scheduled a Christmas card shoot so we could have pictures taken with our new puppy and I just knew it was going to happen then. I joked with him the whole week leading up to the photo session that I hoped we weren’t getting engaged because I was ready last time around. Finally the night before the photo session I made one last jab about how I wasn’t going to get my nails done because I knew he wasn’t proposing tomorrow. Turns out that Kyle was doing everything he could to hold in his secret proposal plan and he finally cracked. Running up the stairs to get the ring he said, “You’re right, we aren’t getting engaged tomorrow because I’m going to have to do it right now.” He then very lovingly asked me to marry him in our living room followed by a night of celebration with our friends.
How did you decide on Stella York Style 6648?
I wanted a dress that was sleek, sexy, and versatile. My gown paired perfectly with a leather jacket for the after party where we all gathered at a brewery for celebratory drinks. I hadn’t seen many “curvy brides” in my style of dress so I was excited to make it my own.

What is your most special wedding memory?
My husband and I shared our first dance in the forest after the ceremony and had some quiet time in the pews with our dog, Sophie. It was so nice to take a few moments and appreciate how much we love each other and how loved and special we felt that day!

What was it like changing from a big wedding to an intimate ceremony?
We are just overwhelmed with joy and gratitude that we got to celebrate with 25 of our nearest and dearest. After going through two wedding dates, a venue closure and having to majorly cut down our guest list, we were so lucky to have an absolutely perfect day. We are so thankful for our family and friends who worked tirelessly to help every step of the way. Not only did they help us adjust plans, but they quarantined before the festivities and even helped set up the venue so that we could celebrate in a safe way. Having a small intimate ceremony followed by pizza, cake, drinks and lots of laughs was the best way to celebrate our marriage.
